Retail PR: Celebrities Dare To Bare All….

LONDON, Tuesday 6th April 2010: Celebrities including Jade Jagger, Bruno Tonioli, Liz McLarnon, Julia Bradbury, Sol Campbell and Christopher Biggins have all ‘dared to bare’ for the cameras in aid of raising valuable funds for charity and encourage the public to strip their wardrobes bare too…

The campaign, aptly named Give Up Clothes for Good and launched by the UK’s biggest charity Cancer Research UK and brands-for-less retailers TK Maxx and HomeSense, is a nationwide clothing and homeware collection to raise valuable funds to help beat childhood cancers.

The campaign runs from 5th-25th April and is being supported by celebrities and shoppers across the country. Since 2004, the biennial campaign has been a huge success – in 2008, it raised £3.2million worth of donations for Cancer Research UK’s life-saving research and this year aims to raise even more.

Jade Jagger, model and designer says: “As a mother of two girls myself, I can’t imagine the devastation felt by parents whose child is diagnosed with cancer. Cancer Research UK is the largest single funder of research into children’s cancer in the UK, having spent more than £9 million last year and it’s vital that this work continues. I am fully behind Give Up Clothes for Good and encourage everyone to get involved – taking along donations to TK Maxx and HomeSense stores is so simple to do, yet will be invaluable in helping Cancer Research UK to beat childhood cancers.”

Bruno Tonioli, Strictly Come Dancing Judge says: “I really enjoyed taking part in this shoot and was glad to Give Up Clothes for Good to help Cancer Research UK beat childhood cancer. I hope everyone else feels the same and I encourage the nation to open up those closets; reach for those hidden marvels, and donate your fabulous items of clothing and homeware to TK Maxx and HomeSense stores.”

Special free donation bags will be available in TK Maxx and HomeSense stores at the end of March however all bags are welcome from bin bags to supersize carrier bags. Each filled bag could be worth up to £30 to Cancer Research UK. For details on how to get involved, check out the TK Maxx website
