The Real Crown Jewels x The Oddballs Foundation – Breaking the taboo of talking about balls.
Idea:
For Testicular Cancer Awareness Month, we partnered with The OddBalls Foundation to tackle a difficult truth: testicular cancer is the most common cancer in men aged 15–49, yet more than half don’t check themselves regularly and many don’t recognise the symptoms.
Execution:
Our campaign was built around a simple insight: men are already talking about their testicles every day – just not in a health context.
This led to The Real Crown Jewels: a handcrafted, jewel-encrusted sculpture that transformed a familiar euphemism into a national conversation about self-checking.
We harnessed the sunlight casting phallic silhouettes on Westminster Bridge to create an eye-catching display that would stop passersby in their tracks.
Display banners and mini COOH were also set up with detailed campaign messaging across the bridge to encourage men to check themselves.
While QR codes on posters helped direct pedestrians to the foundation’s self-check page for further guidance.
The Results:
- +335% increase in visits to the OddBalls’ self-check site
- 400+ pieces of UK media coverage
- 111 broadcast features reaching 10M+ viewers & listeners
- 300,000+ young men engaged through a national tour of The Real Crown Jewels
“The point is that our own crown jewels are just as valuable, so we should be taking steps to protect them from cancer” – LADbible
“A playful but pointed reminder that whatever you call them, they matter” – JOE
