Hen House Takes the Crown for Shed of the Year.

An old hen house has been crowned Shed of the Year. But, this is no ordinary hen house, it is equipped with a gin distillery, saloon, farm shop and ladies’ waiting room.

Inshriach Distillery located in the Scottish Highlands has beat 2,520 other entries to win the prestigious title. Some of the competition included a floating beach hut, a miniature railway wagon and a corrugated cottage which was used by land girls during the Second World War.

Shed owner Walter Micklewait said: “We were up against some proper craftsmen, brilliant eccentrics and most of all a really nice bunch of people, so it is an absolute honour to have won Shed of the Year 2015”.

The winner was announced Sunday night during the final episode of Channel 4’s Amazing Spaces: Shed Of The Year. Mr Micklethwait walked away with £1,000 cash along with a winner’s plaque and a giant crown to place atop his shed.
