Shoppers scramble for £5,000.
Keeping tabs on the dark arts of product promotion with this occasional ‘stunt of the day’ blog ….
Manchester, UK: DVD distributor Revolver Entertainment dropped £5,000 from the Arndale shopping centre balcony to mark the launch of Dead Man Running. The Daily Telegraph reports that one woman caught a £50 note which was among £10 and £5 notes on offer, together with fake branded currency.
Shoppers surged to grab handfuls of the money “as security guards escorted away a promoter wearing a Danny Dyer face mask.”
A spokesperson from Revolver told The Manchester Evening News “People were respectful and didn’t trample on any old ladies.”
Organisers said they were escorted from the premises by security after they were previously declined permission. A similar event is planned at London’s Liverpool Street rail station tomorrow.
The film, backed financially by United star Rio Ferdinand, is due to be released on DVD next week.
